John Reese - Traffic Secrets

Traffic Secrets ($997 [or 3-payment plan]) This link goes to the sellers description and order page. It opens in a new window.

Notice (3/10/07): John Reese has sounded an alert that Ver 2.0 is in the works and has asked me and others to please tell you NOT to purchase the current version so that you aren't stuck with an outdated copy.

According to Reese, the entire content has been changed completely and "no TS 1.0 components will be included."

As far as time frame, the only information he has released is that it will be the "next few months."

Traffic Secrets package
Let me be perfectly honest (like you expected anything else from me?) I do not own the John Reese Traffic Secrets package. I try to own most of the packages I write about, and do own nearly all of them, but this one I do not ... yet. I will.

Fortunately, however, I have tons of research on John Reese and I am comfortable that I have a very good handle on the content of his course. here is the lowdown on my research.

This is not a small package. It arrives with 7 DVDs and 6 CDs, transcripts, and workbooks. The written material, for the most part is printed only on one side of the page, leaving room for notes, (and making them look a little bigger than they really are.)

The general type of material is not wholly unlike Perry Marshall. Both Reese and Marshall (and me by the way) are absolute fanatics about the subject of testing. Web sites should be split tested, Google ads should be split tested, and constant testing is the key to building wealth over a long period of time.

One of the most outstanding of John Reese's concepts is quite the opposite of the Phil Wiley mini-site concept. It's more like a megasite model. He calls it VRE, or Virtual Real Estate. The central idea is that you build a giant megasite with hundreds, if not thousands of pages of content, and let Google Adsense pay the bill. Of course, offering affiliate programs in the site doesn't hurt anything either. It's quite a flip from Phil Wiley's mini sites.

Reese does not preach instant riches and does not hype his products. He is realistic. He knows that business must be treated and run like a business, and will take time and practice to develop.

One of the criticisms Reese has taken for his package, besides the high cost, is that the information is slow and painstaking to learn. He has a way to take 10 minutes (or more0 of walking you through a simple procedure like creating a Google ad. many people have commented on this very slow approach, apparently written for the total beginner.

On the other hand, many of the concepts he teaches are not really beginner material. again, like Perry Marshall, John reese teaches advanced techniques about Google Adwords, and those who have tested his methods honestly have seen dramatic increases in their click-through rates. Knowing how to write ad copy and constant rigorous testing is the key - and Reese teaches it well.

One of Reese's email newsletters was one of the most profound I've ever seen. He asked the question what was the biggest value of having a huge email list. Was it to sell lots of affiliate products? No. The big value of a huge list is that it allows you to test rigorously and fast. This is true and I cannot agree more emphatically. He won my attention.

But one of the other things he has taken a lot of criticism for is the price. The fact is, though, that the value of a marketing product is set by the potential for using the information to multiply it many times over.

Is it possible to make more money than you spend on this product? From the many people who have tested his techniques and gotten good results, I am convinced that it is well worth the investment, IF (and this is a major if) you take the time and effort to really learn it, use it, practice it and to your testing. The depth is there, but don't expect a simple easy walk in the park.

If you're not willing to spend the time you need to use the techniques, this is too much money to waste. But if you are in a real business and willing to take the time to apply (and practice) you will do no better than to purchase this course.

I have plans to purchase this package myself. I am putting my money where my mouth is. I simply do not say nice things about a product just to sell it and make a commission. Frankly, I've purchased no less than 10 other products over this past month, so I cannot buy everything at once, but I believe in this one, and it's on my list.

I recently had a phone conversation with Marty Foley (a big name in Internet Marketing in his own right) and he mentioned to me the unfortunate information that John Reese does not support the concept of Taguchi testing. I found this disturbing, since Reese is an avid testing fanatic. I'll forgive him for the statement but I'll have to disagree and stand by my guns that Taguchi (Multivariate) testing is indeed very powerful.

John Reese

A lot like Perry Marshall. Reese is an avid preacher of testing, testing testing. I respect that ...highly!
