Product
Overview:
CraigsListProfits
is a product offered to teach you how to profit using Craigslist.
The author is Mark McDonald, a 15 year-old Aussie who has
done quite well using Craigslist, selling almost exclusively
high-end services, mainly SEO services using CraigsList.
The
package comes as an 8-part audio download and Word document
transcripts of the audio sessions. There is also a 1-hour
tele-interview session with Jackie Jones from thejackiejoneschallenge.com.
There
is also a blog and a forum associated with the site, neither
of which is particularly highly populated.
Positive:
It's
hard to argue with success, and Mark McDonald has shown a
great amount of success with his methods. You'll also find
him very active on forums - especially WarriorForum.
Mark
says he will answer questions both in forums and by email
support, and there is every evidence that he does that. In
forum entries where people have called for his help, he is
soon popping around to get involved in the discussions.
You
can learn a lot by visiting the forums and asking questions,
and Mark will likely help out.
His
methods can indeed allow you to make very high dollar figures
using Craigslist if you have one of the skills he outlines
that you can sell as services to the Craigslist audience.
Negative:
But
now for the rub. Am I recommending CraigsList Profits? NO!
Let me enumerate why.
1.
The heart of the product features almost exclusively audio
downloads which are hardly understandable. The volume is very
low, the recordings are low quality, Mark's accent makes him
very difficult to understand. But here is the worst part of
all - his grammar is atrocious! Most of the time I have no
idea what he's trying to say. His use of constant fillers
like "And stuff like that." makes his meaning abundantly
unclear. Maybe it's just because he's only 15 years old, but
his communication skills are horrible.
2.
The transcripts are even worse. The transcriptionist often
can't understand him, so he/she just puts in the word "indistinguishable."
Guess how many times it appears in 48 pages --- 200 times!
What's worse is that many of the rest of the words are dead
wrong (misheard), making the meaning totally unintelligible.
We're
not just talking about a little bit. Let me do an experiment.
I'll generate a random number, go that that page, and generate
another random number representing the line. Then I'll quote
the first new sentence. Totally random now - and it doesn't
matter where I go - the whole thing is horrible.
Here
goes ...page 9 of the interview, last paragraph - one sentence
(copying and pasting): "Yeah absolutely
because it’s like, it’s good to use jargon sometimes
just because it impresses them, they don’t particular
overview that actually –I think I didn’t talk
about (indiscernible) Dominic is a 100% know about (indiscernible)
posting, haven’t done that (indiscernible) just because
that sounds like such a (indiscernible) idea, but basically
outsourcing what you want to do now is talk about, you just
want to find peoples that post those (indiscernible) but you
don’t want to hire people if we are going to post (indiscernible)
things like, you want to (indiscernible) I mean you want to
(indiscernible) within the rose, I mean you are just replacing
the use (indiscernible) Craigslist as such, and I am talking
about outsourcing is what you get a blog that you don’t
want, if you get 10 or so – you don’t want to
do those jobs, you can simply ask questions like do or don’t,
(indiscernible) stuff things like that, and you can get people
pay them 20% or what people pay you, and now do the job better
than you can, and about, and then you can send people the
money coming in, you can get more prospects and things like
that."
That's
one sentence, chosen randomly. Do you have any clue what he
just said? I don't!
3.
His methods are only slanted to selling high-ticket services
such as SEO and link-building services.
4.
Many of his methods are black hat [or as his transcriptionist
writes it "black hot" :-) ]and involve tactics like
how to fool Craigslist to be able to make multiple posts,
or charging higher prices than your competitors and telling
your prospects how cheap it is because "you want to make
some money for some concert tickets and stuff like that."
After all, he says you just talk to them on the phone and
"This is a perfect time to use jargon and crazy talk
like that. The whole idea is to make them feel they need you
and you know what you are doing." Whoa Mark - how professional
is that?
But
wait. There may be hope:
In his forum Mark has promised
there is a version 4 in the works, and that there will be
a professional voice-over speaker to translate. He also promises
that in the new version there will be information on such
topics as building a mailing list using Craigslist, selling
information products, and selling affiliate products.
I
wrote to him on the forum expressing my concern over the quality
of the product and telling him I'm holding out on final judgment
until version 4 is released. It will determine whether I will
be returning the product and whether I'll be able to report
happier news here.
I'm
truly hoping I'll be able to totally reverse some of the things
I've said here and recommend the product wholeheartedly. Hang
in there. We'll see.
