Michael Green - How to Promote a Product

How to Promote a Product (97.00, Gold 169.00) This link goes to the sellers descrption and order page. It opens in a new window.

I'm not sure "How to Promote a Product" is represented well on Green's sales page. He refers to the "24 keys" and leaves it very vague what types of key's he's talking about.

As you know by now, I'm a researcher, and I set out to find out what kind of keys these were before purchasing the product - I always advocate researching before purchasing. These are essentially 24 methods of promotion. Let's look at some of them:

  • Writing articles for other publications
  • Exchanging links
  • Pay per Click listings
  • Using pop-ups, pop-ins, and pop-under's (OUCH!)
  • Offering mini-courses to get email subscribers
  • Using Press Releases

Ok, you get the idea. These are not new topics. They are topics covered by virtually everybody selling marketing products. And some of them (well, one in particular) you may already know I am violently opposed to - you guessed it - pop-ups.

Advocates of pop-ups say, you and your customers may not like them, but the truth is, they work. Sorry folks, but I do not think MY bottom line is justification for annoying people. Annoying others for my personal gain is immoral in my opinion. As I've said before, Michael Green's products get to the point and don't dilly dally around with extra fluff, so they are packed with good information. But for $97 I think this package is pricey for information on common techniques. Ok, ok, once again I know that the price is small potatoes if you're going to use the information to generate a lot of money. It's just that many other great general courses that cover this same ground are available for less (or even free if you glean it from ezines and articles).

For those who want to get it all in one package, nice and succinct with no fluff that Michael Green is famous for, then this package is for you. But your first money, in my opinion, should go toward a less expensive all around first course by any one of a number of authors. Sorry Michael, but people simply can't afford to buy every course that comes down the pipe.

It's not that I don't recommend it - I do. But if I could only buy my top five choices, this wouldn't be one of those. (top)

No really revolutionary ideas here, but it is solid, standard marketing strategies.
