Derek Gehl - 60-Second Salesletters

60-Second Salesletters ($97/yr) This link goes to the sellers descrption and order page. It opens in a new window.

This is a membership website service. Once you get your login password you access a form with a set of blanks that takes you 30 - 60 minutes and out pops a powerful sales letter.

I used it to generate one of the earlier versions of this Website's home page, before I learned some of the techniques of copywriting and re-write it myself. It was very effective, yielding very good response.

Where they got the term "60-seconds" I'm not sure. The form takes longer than that to fill out, and the generation of your page takes much less time than 60-seconds to generate.

If you've been studying marketing for a long time you should already know a bit about writing copy. You probably know that long copy always outsells short copy. You already know that you need to include testimonials, credibility statements, a strong guarantee, and so forth. But if you're new to it, this may be a helpful service.

What I really like about 60-Second Salesletters(the good)

Sometimes translating what you know about copy writing and translating it into actual good copy is not easy to do. It's kind of an art. One option you have is to look at lots of examples of other sales letters, (choose carefully to be sure it's one that's really selling), find one you really like and substitute your own material.

The second option is to use a template, like 60-Second Salesletters to help you generate one quickly.

The real benefit of 60-Second Salesletters, in my mind, is more for the training than for the sales letters themselves. Filling in the blanks forces you to think about the things you need to include.

You will be forced to pair up (and differentiate) features and the benefit each feature provides. You'll be forced to think about your unique selling proposition. You'll be forced to think about the criteria people should use to judge you against your competition . . . and so forth.

The frustrations

(1) While the template is easy to use, it doesn't necessarily generate perfect copy. You may have to do some tweaking. For example, if your product is new, you may not have testimonials yet. So you leave that part blank. But the finished copy still puts up a heading saying something like "Listen to what other people are saying." You'll have to take that out.

Sometimes the wording you put in the boxes won't quite sound right against the supplied text. You may have to tweak it.

Basically you'll already have to have some writing skills to be sure the grammar and flow makes sense.

(2) The copy it generates won't be on your own web page template. Obviously you'll want to copy it and paste it into your page.

But wait! After you copy and paste it, it probably will get really messed up. The problem? The format relies on a <style> </style> tag in the HTML. If you don't know how to port that style over to your web page you may get frustrated.

You can always just copy and paste it, then go back and change the look of each line and heading on your own page, one at a time, but it may take some time and HTML skills.

If you're interested in learning the basics of good copy writing on your own I'd recommend either Ken Evoy's "Make Your Content Presell" or Derek Gehl's "Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet."

If you want to generate a similar salesletter fully integrated into a Webpage template you may want to consider the new BeBiz.

I personally think learning to write your own copy is a better plan, because that is a skill you can take with you and apply to everything. If you buy this package, eventually you should learn enough to wean yourself off of it. But If you simply don't have time or want some good examples to start with, this will serve you well.

If you are hoping to sell IMC products as an affiliate, be aware that this product is not on the list of products you can represent. In other words, you do not receive an affiliate link for it, so you cannot get a commission for it. If you write ti the Internet Marketing Center, they can send you an affiliate link.

Learning to write good copy is a skill you can take with you anywhere. But for about $10/month this could save you enough time to pay for itself. It all depends on the kind of copy you are writing and your experience level.
