This
is a software package using a technology called Direct-to-Desktop
messaging. In other words, when a user installs it, he or
she can receive little pop-up messages from you directly,
while trying to surf or chat with friends or whatever people
do on their computers.
I
allowed it for about a day, then said "No, I don't need
to be interrupted any more, bye bye." I suspect that
will be the case with most computer owners.
Then
again, if it is truly used as an opt-in and you have been
clever enough to build a close following of loyal fans, then
there may be a place for this software. But again, remember
that there is alternative software out there as well. I'll
research it one day as I have time. In the meantime try "Direct-to-desktop"
or direct-to-desktop publishing" or direct-to-desktop
marketing" in your search engine.
Those
who use this technology report much higher conversion rates
(percentage of readers who buy" and better search engine
placement, than those who use traditional email.
One
of the biggest proponents is John Botscharow of 3R-Marketing.
He has eliminated his email campaign altogether, and gone
to a daily direct-to-desktop. His twist is that he doesn't
write in order to market, but markets in order to write. In
other words, he just enjoys writing to his audience every
day, and it is likely that he has a good base of readers who
enjoy his writing. That is the kind of readership you'll need
to make this technology successful.
Yes
I would recommend this technology if you fall into that category,
but shop around for competing software first. If you still
like Desktop Marketer better, then go for it.
