If
you're going to run your own affiliate program, you simply
have to have some software to track it for you. Trying to
keep track of sales by hand and give affiliates proper credit
is complicated.
With
most affiliate tracking programs, you'll pay a monthly fee,
and Assoc is no exception. You'll probably also need a programmer
to help you install it. A better option is Marketers Choice.
You'll also pay a monthly fee, but you'll get a more integrated
and better program. Besides there is only the monthly fee,
with no up-front $677 at the start.
As
I have time I'll recommend some other options. If you research
on your own, just be sure what you purchase either integrates
an autoresponder and affiliate tracker, or that the two separate
programs work well together.
In
the meantime, I'm just going to tell you that this package
is simply too expensive for someone just starting out. It
is true that building your own associate program is at the
heart of making real money on the Internet. But if you're
a small time operator it's better to use a pen-and-paper system
to get started and start looking at purchasing software once
you prove to yourself that you can make money. Even then,
though, I'd shop around.
If
you become a big-time operator and need a big system, you
may want to look at AssocTrac. It is, after all, the same
system used by Rudl himself. It's up to you, but I wouldn't
go that route until I'm ready - at which point the price would
be trivial anyway.
One
other option, if you simply want to offer a flat fee for affiliate
sales is clickbank. One nice thing about that is that any
clickbank affiliate can sell any clickbank product. By putting
your product up on clickbank, you already have thousands of
build-in affiliate salespersons working for you.
Folks,
I stand to make a lot of affiliate money off your purchase
of assoctrac, but I simply cannot recommend as your first
choice. As I said - later, when you're already making a fortune
and you're ready to launch your own affiliate program you
may want to look at it. Until then, there are too many other
good options.
