The
Energy if Money by Maria Nemeth
Oh puhleeez. Now I've seen everything. The Energy of
Money was to me a total waste of time and energy.
Worse than that, I think it is an outright dangerous
viewpoint.
The basis of the book is the concept of the Hero's
Journey by Joseph Campbell. You may be familiar with
such fantasy - it was the basis of Star Wars.
Mixed in with the fantasy of money as energy and the
heroes journey are several other Concepts from Buddhism
and other religions. The Monkey Mind is a personification
of your cautious side, that part of your brain that
says "this could be a dangerous investment."
Except in this book the Monkey Mind has been allowed
to run wild and it imparts unnecessary fear of taking
any action - good or bad.
Throughout the book is a great deal about your "relationship
with money," which if you will just let it lead
you, you will realize your dreams. Oh brother!
Somehow money has been personified - a dangerous viewpoint.
It is not a spiritual being and it has no conscience,
in my view.
"But Roger," you protest, "Don't your
attitudes toward money make a difference?"
Emphatically yes. If you reduce your fear of failure
and view money as a tool then you are in a much better
frame of mind to act in a way to be better off.
But there is a much more realistic book on the effect
of attitudes on money that I would prefer you read.
It is Dan Kennedy's "No
B.S. Wealth Attraction for Entrepreneurs."
In that book Kennedy gives this great debunking of
the spirituality of money. He explains that it is just
paper - no more, no less. It has no conscience. It can
be obtained by the pornographer as quickly as by the
Bible salesman. It doesn't care who you are or what
you think about it. It just is.
Let's not try to personify money and try to put it
in some mythical realm such as Joseph Campbell and Buddha.
This is twisting reality.
I do not recommend this book.
